Sir Alex Ferguson had a chat with Alexis Sanchez , Scott McTominay and Diogo Dalot following the win against Chelsea in the FA Cup.
The club legend was at Stamford Bridge to watch Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side book their place in the quarter finals thanks to first half goals from Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba.
And following the game, as the three substitutes were warming down, Ferguson walked across the pitch flanked by four members of security.
As he headed across the pitch he had a brief exchange with the trio who all acknowledged him before finishing off their warm down.
United’s all time greatest manager then headed inside the stadium before going to the team coach with the rest of the squad to travel back to Manchester.
Solskjaer, who has won 11 of his first 13 games in charge at United, revealed before his first game against Cardiff he had already spoken to Ferguson ahead of taking interim charge.
“He’s influenced me with everything to be fair,” Solskjaer said. “The way he’s dealt with people, the way he was the manager of the club, how he kept 25 international players happy, hungry and wanting to improve. But also the staff in and around the place.
“He’s been my mentor. From my injury in 2003 at least, I was making all the notes, what he did in different, certain situations.
“Of course I’ve already been in touch with him, because there’s no one better to get some advice from.”
