A woman identified as Semiat have been before an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly pouring hot water on a pregnant woman identified as Rukayat Lukuman, the hot water was suspected to have been mixed with poisonous substances, allegedly attacked the victim following a minor misunderstanding.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Abiodun Fagboyinbo, told the court that the incident occurred around 8.30pm on November 16, 2018, during a minor misunderstanding between Rukayat and Semiat, who both reside in the same neighbourhood.
The magistrate, Modupe Awodele, condemned the action of the accused, saying the victim could have lost her life to the attack.
The victim, however, pleaded that the accused should be pardoned.
She insisted that she was no longer interested in pressing charges against the accused.
Despite the plea of the victim, Awodele ordered the family of the accused to bring her mother to court during the next hearing.
The magistrate said she would only discharge Semiat after seeing her mother, the case was adjourned till December 21, 2018.
