Osu Chief recognised for his peace and security efforts

The Osu Mantse, His Majesty Nii Okwei Kinka Dowouna VI has been recognized for his efforts and contribution towards peace, and unity over the years in the West African Sub-region and beyond.
The Osu Mantse who doubles as the President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, was presented with the ‘Most Outstanding Traditional Leader in Peace and Security In West Africa Award’ at the 14th Africa Security Watch awards and conference held in Accra.
Addressing the gathering, the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Security Watch Africa,[SWA] organizers’ of the conference, Mr. Patrick Agbambu, bemoaned Africa’s security challenges arising from lack of visionary and selfless leadership.
He attributed the security challenges bedeviling the continent to diverse culture, traditional, languages, races and religious practices most of which were imported into the continent.
He further revealed that terrorism, insurgency, piracy, and violent crime like kidnapping, armed robbery and mass killings have consumed many in Africa and that there are well-articulated and coordinated efforts to ameliorate the damaging effects of these lives consuming security challenges
According him, his outfit is partnering with the Stellenbosch University‘s Security Institute for Governance and Leadership in Africa to develop pragmatic and practical modules to tackle the inadequate efficient and result-oriented leadership in governance in the continent.
African leaders must harness the abundant human energies that abound in the continent to solve these security challenges.
The SWA and the University he announced have signed series of programs to stimulate the needed leadership in Africa’s security and governance. With the coming into being of the MOU signed by the two institutions, the stage is now set for action’’ he noted.
Other awardees include H.E Madam Ellen Sirleaf Johnson, immediate President of Liberia, who was awarded with the Star Award for exemplary services in governance in Africa as well as His Royal Highness, Eze Dr. RMB Chukwudi Ihenetu, as the most outstanding Diaspora King [CSR] in West Africa.
His Excellency Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, the Governor of Lagos Statewas also honored with the most innovative African Leader In Governance in West and Central Africa.
Some other high profile personalities were also honored for their contribution in promoting peace and security in West Africa and Africa at large.
The Conference held under the theme ‘’Confronting Land and Maritime Security Challenges in Africa‘’ was chaired by Brigadier General Joseph Nunoo Mensah [rtd], Ghana’s former National Security Coordinator.
