Nigeria Senate passes N30,000 as minimum wage

The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday passed the bill to approve N30,000 as the minimum wage that has been the agitation of the National Labour Congress(NLC).

The approval of the minimum wage by the Senate followed the report of an ad-hoc committee it set up to look into the issue, the committee is headed by Senator Francis Alimikhena.

After the passage, the Senate asked the federal government to send a supplementary budget that would cover the new wage structure for consideration.

The House of Representatives have earlier passed the bill on January 29, 2019.
