Cancer is the most feared disease by humans as it tend to destroy and eat up the life of an individual, the cost of curing cancer is very expensive either to the rich or the poor.
But, there are functional foods that can kill cancer cells and inhibit or even stop the growth of malignant tumours. They also create conditions which are unfavourable to cancer cells, while destroying old and malfunctioning cells in the body.

(1) Sea vegetables
Seaweeds such as kelp, nori, and kombu have the potential to prevent cancer and are rich in essential minerals. These include magnesium, calcium, iron, and bioavailable iodine.
(2) Cruciferous vegetables
These vegetables are rich in vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients. They include broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, and beets. They contain a number of carotenoids such as beta-carotene, lutein, and zeaxanthin as well as vitamins C, E, and K; folate; and minerals. These vegetables prevent cancer by protecting cells from DNA damage, helping inactivate carcinogens, inducing cell death of carcinogens and inhibiting tumor blood vessel formation.
Eating tomatoes can lower the risk of getting cancer and heart disease. Tomatoes contain lycopene and other carotenoids which have several beneficial properties. They destroy cancerous cells and can inhibit the growth of inflammatory substances
(4) Green tea
Everyone knows the massive benefits of green tea. They contain anti-oxidants in the form of flavonoids which are called catechins. Studies have found that catechins in tea can shrink tumors and reduce tumor cell growth. They work by interfering with the ability of certain pro-inflammatory chemicals to bind to cells of smooth muscle tissue of the vascular system.
Chlorella contains carotenoids that are said to prevent cancer in humans and can slow down the growth of cancer cells. Chlorophyll neutralizes environmental toxins and pollutants. It helps the blood carry oxygen to all cells and tissues.
