Manchester United Fans React To This Shocking Romelu Lukaku Attempt

Manchester United headed into Tuesday night’s match at home to Juventus priced at 12/5 to carve out a win on home soil.

This is the biggest price the Red Devils have ever been to win a group stage Champions League game at Old Trafford, but while few expected Jose Mourinho’s men to excel against the Old Lady, the gulf in class between the two teams was eye-popping.

A number of Man Utd players severely underperformed, including Romelu Lukaku, who has been lambasted by fans and pundits alike.

With the game only eight minutes old, the Belgian latched onto the ball deep into opposition territory over on the right flank. Instead of laying a simple pass off to Paul Pogba behind him, or even darting in on goal, he opted for an overly ambitious cross-field ball to Anthony Martial on the left wing.

Given his underwhelming form of late it was perhaps no surprise that the ‘Hollywood’ pass was very poor, missing the intended targed and instead finding an opposition player, which allowed the Italian giants to break – check it out for yourself in the Twitter video below.

Fans were quick to slam the striker in the comment section below the clip from BT Sport:

The most over rated striker in world football, second touch is a tackle [@RossT0390]

overhyped waste of money [@Goonersterling]

nothing new to see here, this happens every time he touches the ball [@FinallyAquino]

Even BT mocking him jeez [@SammyG_91]

Lukaku was probably taking a shot at goal. [@3LToRo]

The 1-0 win meant Juventus have now accumulated a maximum nine points from three games, with Man Utd second on four points, followed by Valencia, then Young Boys. Few will expect Mourinho’s men to come away from Turin with anything next month, meaning the final two games against Young Boys and Valencia could well be ‘must wins’.
