The immediate past Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho has said that neither Liverpool nor Chelsea can afford to lose their Premier League clash on Sunday.
Chelsea killed Liverpool’s title hopes in 2014 with a 2-0 win at Anfield and Mourinho was in charge of the Blues at the time.
Liverpool must beat Chelsea to stay ahead of Manchester City in the current Premier League title race.
However, Mourinho insisted Chelsea’s top four hope hinges on them defeating Jurgen Klopp’s men.
“Liverpool-Chelsea in the Premier League is a big one, for many reasons,” Mourinho told Russia Today.
“Liverpool, they have to win every match between now and the end of the season, and wait for Man City to lose a couple of points. ‘It’s a must-win for Liverpool.
“At the same time Chelsea need points to finish top four.
“Manchester United is there, Spurs is there, Arsenal, despite their last defeat, are also there.
“Chelsea needs points. It’s a must-win for both. And to add something more to the game, the last time Liverpool were almost winning the title it was Chelsea who spoiled the celebration at Anfield.
“I’m pretty sure people have that in mind. For me that’s the big game of the weekend.”
