LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly eyeing up Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele as a replacement for superstar Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian has been in stunning form since his summer switch from Roma and scored four goals last weekend to take his season tally to 36.
Salah’s prolific debut campaign has led to speculation surrounding his future, with La Liga giants Real Madrid believed to be circling.
And Klopp has started planning for the worst by considering who could fill the void if the Spanish side swoop.
According to Diario Gol, former Borussia Dortmund winger Dembele is his number one target.
Although the pair did not work together at the German club, Klopp remains a huge fan of the 20-year-old.
Dembele has struggled with injuries since moving to the Nou Camp last summer and the January arrival of Philippe Coutinho has limited his game time.
It’s been reported that Barca are keen to recoup some of the huge fee paid for him and Arsenal are also believed to be interested.
Diario Gol claim that the Catalan side have a deal in place to sign Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann and must sell Dembele in order to finance it.
Liverpool will be desperate to beat their Premier League rivals to his signature as they look to compete with Manchester City next season.
The Reds are currently third in the Premier League and return to action next Saturday with a trip to Crystal Palace.
