There was a remake of Jet Lee’s “Black Mask” movie when singer Kuami Eugene and management of Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM crashed last Wednesday at the Kumasi Cultural Centre over a breached of contract.
According to an eyewitness report, the young talented musician was billed to perform at the station’s end of year party dubbed “Oyerepa Gye W’ani” alongside Okomfuor Kwadee, Evg. IK Aning, Tic GH, and Flowking Stone but things turned to be an eyesore and heartbreaking for thousands of loyal fans of Kwami Eugene who thronged the event ground to catch a glimpse of their superstar.
The eyewitness, Kwasi (Not his real name), told browngh.com the “Wish Me Well” hitmaker delayed for more than 45 minutes sitting comfortably in his car when he was called to mount the stage leaving fans and music lovers at the event very disappointed.
He continued that, in a mission to find why he’s refusing to perform by Oyerepa FM, organizers of the event, the well built men guarding the plush Benz car Kuami Eugene was seated in would not allow.
Kwasi explained the dissension had to do with a demand for full payment of Ghs25, 000. Contrarily to an earlier agreement that half payment before and after performance.
However, after several minutes of negotiations a consensus was reached and Kuami Eugene climbed the stage for a promised one hour show, but sang only gospel songs and stopped after only ten minutes on stage.
“So, Eugene mounted the stage and all of a sudden started singing gospel. Na ashoq give dah nhigga ruff… He sang lyk 10 mins norr he drop mic. He didn’t sing his songs.. no be joke oo bruh ….Dat guy you aa you ve wardrobe malfunction anso he dey claim boss”
“…Da boy didn’t perform again la…menners bore waa I would have misbehaved buh I was wit Bhae…come and see me like a gentleman bi. LOL”.Kwasi disclosed.
According to him, the unprofessionalism on the part of Eugene got organizers of Oyerepa Gye W’ani bewildered. But it did not end there the worst happened when the manageress (from Lynx Entertainment) demanded for full payment and when the organizers failed they started verbally abusing staff and management of Oyerepa FM with all sorts of unprinted words.
