Eden Hazard has thanked Roman Abramovich for helping him to realise two of his footballing dreams.
Chelsea and Real Madrid confirmed on Friday night that they had reached an agreement over an £88.5m transfer for the Belgium international and he will be unveiled at the Santiago Bernabeu in the coming days.
Hazard’s departure has certainly affected the majority of fans as well as some of his now former teammates.
It remains to be seen how the Blues replace Hazard as his 16 goals and 15 assists was the highest goal contribution in the Premier League this season.
Given the two-transfer window ban is hanging over the club’s head, it could be that someone already in the squad will have to step up to the plate and provide the spark that Hazard so often provided during his seven years in west London.
Just minutes after his move to the Spanish capital was made official, Hazard took to social media and sent a classy message to the Chelsea fans, while also thanking Abramovich.
Hazard also spoke of his wish to face Chelsea in the Champions League next season.
That could happen in the group phase as the Blues will be in pot 1 for the draw, while Hazard’s new club are in pot 2 after failing to win the La Liga title this season.
