Death certificate reveals cause of Stan Lee’s death

The cause of death of legendary comic book, Stan Lee has been revealed two weeks after he passed on, his death certificate, was obtained by TMZ.

The certificate showed that his immediate cause of death as cardiac arrest with respiratory failure and congestive heart failure as underlying causes, he also suffered from “aspiration pneumonia,” a complication of pulmonary aspiration, which was a “significant condition” that contributed to his death. Pulmonary aspiration, according to the Mayo Clinic, occurs when a person inhales food, stomach acid or saliva into the lungs.

According to the death certificate, Lee was pronounced dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, on Monday, Nov. 12, at 9:17 a.m. He was 95. Lee was cremated and his ashes returned to his daughter, J.C. Lee.

Lee was known as the godfather of Marvel Comics and was responsible for creating or co-creating iconic characters like Spider-Man, Iron Man, Black Panther and the Hulk. Lee’s daughter said he was working on a new superhero before his death.

“We have been working on a character called Dirt Man,” she told TMZ. “The last little angel that we’ve got tucked away is called Dirt Man. I said, ‘Daddy, please, no clatter, no steel, no any of that. Let’s get down and dirty.’ … It is very interesting. It’s not over yet; we still have a little trickery.”

J.C. Lee also revealed she will be creating a foundation in her father’s memory to highlight the importance of literacy.
