It was an unbelievable scene at a customary court at Oja-Oba, Ibadan, Oyo State, when a woman identified as Odunayo prayed the court to dissolve her marriage between herself and her husband Sunday Akintayo.
The president of the court, Chief Ademola Odunade, heed to the appeal stating that the crisis in the marriage could endanger the life of any of the couple if proactive steps were not taken.
He said; “In the interest of peaceful living, the union between Odunayo and Sunday Akintayo has ceased to be. The custody of the two children produced by the union is awarded to Odunayo.
According to her, whenever she refused to feed Akinatyo, he would break her shop and steal money and other valuable things from it.
She further told the court that since she left her husband’s home, he had been threatening and cursing her through text messages.
She said, “I was enduring his cruelty to me until my parents advised me to leave him and watch whether he would change. He is a wicked man. He is a heavy drinker. He stole my panties and cut my hair. I don’t want him again, please separate us.”
Akintayo was not in the court to defend himself.
The president of the court, therefore, ordered the bailiff in the court to serve him with the judgment of the court.
