Barcelona returned to the top of LaLiga table, with a thrilling 4-2 win over Sevilla on Saturday night.
The Spanish champions went into the fixture, knowing that victory would open up a four-point gap, after Real Madrid were beaten 2-1 by Levante earlier in the day.
Phillipe Coutinho and Lionel Messi gave Barca a two-goal lead in the first half, before Luis Suarez made it 3-0 from the penalty spot in the second half.
Pablo Sarabia pulled one back for Sevilla, but Ivan Rakitic restored the hosts’ three-goal advantage.
Luis Muriel struck late in the game to reduce the tally again.
Ernesto Valverde’s men now have 18 points, while Alaves are second with 17.
Real sit in fifth place with 14points.
