Anthony Martial has taken drastic measures with his social media accounts.
The French striker – Manchester United’s joint top scorer with nine goals this season – has deleted his twitter and Instagram accounts.
Those trying to click on his twitter profile @AnthonyMartial get an error message which reads ‘sorry this page does not exist’.
And it simply says ‘this page isn’t available’ if you try and access his Instagram account.
This led to fans responding with “anthony martial twitter gone user not found????”.
Another said: “Martial deletes his accounts, not sure what to make of it”, while one fan said: “need you back hero”.
Martial deleted a lot of his Instagram posts last May, leading to United fans fearing he could be on his way out of Old Trafford.
New boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was also not impressed with Anthony Martial’s failure to report back for training on Christmas Day.
Martial missed Manchester United’s win over Huddersfield on Boxing Day after going back to France to spend Christmas with his partner Melanie and their baby son.
Solskjaer had given his players Christmas Eve off and moved training back to 6pm the following day to give the squad more time with their families.
The pair put up a Christmas day instagram post of their baby, named Swan. Hours ago she uploaded a picture to an instagram story of her holding the baby close, Martial was not in the snap.
Martial is no stranger to deleting large sections of his social media accounts and has done so on a number of occasions.
Martial also has interesting social media activity.
A few weeks ago Martial liked and then unliked a video mocking Jose Mourinho on Twitter shortly after he was sacked as Manchester United boss.
Bleacher Report posted the animation that poked fun at the Portuguese’s demeanour, ‘park the bus’ mentality and his fallouts with Paul Pogba on Tuesday morning.
At one point, Martial asks Mourinho if he can ‘have a bigger roll’ – a fun play on words. The former Chelsea boss responds: “I don’t get Harry Maguire. You don’t get more food.”
The video was posted at 10:27, roughly 40 minutes after Mourinho was axed as United boss.
Martial liked the video before swiftly taking back his actions – but not before it was spotted by an eagle-eyed fan on Twitter.
It’s no secret that Martial endured a turbulent couple of seasons under Mourinho.
The 23-year-old’s future at the club seemed all but up in the summer when his agent revealed the forward wanted to leave.
But things appeared to have turned a corner in recent months,
