Alexis Sanchez won’t play for Manchester United again in 2018

Big blow for Alexis Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez will not play another game for Manchester United in 2018 after returning to his homeland of Chile following injury.

The forward is having a torrid time at Old Trafford since his move from Arsenal back in January.

Sanchez was one of the best forwards in the Premier League during his time at the Gunners before Man United came calling.

Jose Mourinho fought off interest from Manchester City and Pep Guardiola to win the race for his services.

The deal was a straight swap for Henrikh Mkhitaryan but it reportedly cost Man United an awful lot in wages.

Safe to say, having only scored three goals since joining from Arsenal, he has been a flop.

Now, his woes have been compounded by injury.

No Sanchez until 2018 for Man United

That is because following an ‘aggressive’ hamstring injury, Alexis will not feature for United again until 2019.

It was confirmed in midweek by Mourinho that “It is not a little muscular injury that, in one week or 10 days, the player is ready.”

Now, according to Sky Sports, Jose Mourinho and the club have given him permission to return to Chile and continue his recovery there.

Sky claim that Sanchez is ‘having treatment with members of the Chilean national team’s medical staff.’

They also explain that the club does not expect Sanchez to return before the turn of the year.

That means that Sanchez will miss almost all of the festive period.
